Everyone's a little bit racist sometimes ...

Doesn't mean we go around committing hate crimes.
Look around and you will find
No one's really color blind.
Maybe it's a fact we all should face.
Everyone makes judgments ... based on race.

Laura and I somehow got to discussing "Avenue Q" before class on Thursday -- including the song "Everyone's A Little Bit Racist." This reminded me of a nifty social psychology test which cleverly reveals your internal biases about things like race. Click the link and take a few tests. It is kinda fun. You can read an article about the test here.

Comments:
The IAT thing is pretty interesting; however, I think that the order in which they run it can create bias. When I did a test, it said that I have a slight automatic preference for one of the groups based on the fact that I answered faster when the other group was associated with bad than when it was associated with good; however, the part when it was associated with bad came after the part when it was associated with good. At this pt, I was merely more familiar with the format of the "game" and was answering faster regardless.

If this order is randomized for each respondent then it should no be a problem overall I guess...
