Required Readings for Wednesday (4/7/10)
We'll discuss ecosystem services on Wednesday.
The first reading comes from the Millenium Ecosystem Assessment: Ecosystems and Human Well-Being. Read the first two paragraphs of the Foreward (p. ii), the entire Preface (p. v-ix), and the Summary for Decision-Makers (p. 1-24). The second reading by Costanza et al. (1997) addresses an attempt to assign values to global ecosystem services. It's from the journal Nature, and available with PSU's online access (and elsewhere if you google the title).
